TWO SOULS, ONE LANGUAGE

Italian comics between popular serial storytelling and authorial vision

Italian comics are a rich and surprising language, capable of combining wide popular appeal with personal artistic research.

The audience is guided on a journey through fifty years of Italian comics, highlighting the dialogue between two fundamental souls: popular serial storytelling and author-driven creation.

Through iconic characters and visually powerful works, the talk explores how Italian comics have addressed themes such as adventure, fear, identity, memory, and imagination, creating collective myths on the one hand and deeply personal visions on the other.

These two paths, seemingly distant, have in fact influenced each other over time, giving rise to a complex, vibrant, and constantly evolving narrative language.

Il fumetto italiano tra serialità popolare e visione d’autore

Il fumetto italiano è un linguaggio ricco e sorprendente, capace di coniugare grande successo popolare e ricerca artistica personale.

Il pubblico viene accompagnato in un viaggio attraverso cinquant’anni di fumetto italiano, mettendo in luce il dialogo tra due anime fondamentali: quella della serialità popolare e quella del fumetto d’autore.

Attraverso personaggi iconici e opere di forte impatto visivo, l’incontro mostra come il fumetto italiano abbia saputo raccontare avventura, paura, identità, memoria e immaginazione, costruendo da un lato miti collettivi e dall’altro visioni profondamente personali.

Due percorsi apparentemente distanti che, nel tempo, si sono influenzati a vicenda, dando vita a un linguaggio narrativo complesso, vivo e in continua evoluzione.

TAIPEI INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR 2026 - ITALY-THEMED EVENTS

Italy will once again participate in the Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE), taking place from February 3 to 8, 2026 at the Taipei World Trade Center.

TIBE is one of Asia’s most prominent literary events, bringing together readers, industry professionals, and creators from around the world.

Italian booth, located at A1125 will feature 7 Italian publishers while the Comicon exhibition is going to be in a satellite pavilion/Fumetto 12! (booth A1105).

A special exhibition about "Fumetti" the Italian comic books, with a presentation of the 12 main characters of our comics’ history, curated by Comicon.
